The virus has changed everything about our day-to-day lives, so it stands to reason that it would also affect the automotive industry. Some effects are expected, the decline in employment early into the pandemic is still being felt now as many who were laid off still haven’t gotten a call back to return to work. Autonomous driving seems to have been moved to the back burner, as car manufacturers look to find ways to regain the lost capital. Some were a bit strange, such as used car sales going up since now people are trying to avoid public transportation, and there’s been a heavier push for electrification than ever, with manufacturers announcing deadlines to end the sale of combustion-engine vehicles.
