Impaired driving is a danger to us all. If you drive while under the influence of any substance, you are not only endangering yourself but everyone around you. So when it comes to keeping everyone safe, it looks like car manufacturers have been asked to step up in our battle against drunk driving.  It seems that they have been tasked to create a system that can detect the alcohol content of the driver through the air around them or the blood running through the capillaries of their fingers. Currently, they want to design a system that doesn’t malfunction and leave sober drivers stranded, much like a similar seat-belt fail-safe that didn’t operate as intended back in the ’70s.

This and other advancements are being pushed heavily by MADD in the hopes of decreasing deaths caused by impaired drivers.
