Position Overview
Avolta is seeking a part-time Electronics Engineering Contractor to contribute directly to the design and development of production-grade hardware systems supporting automotive anti-theft technology.
This is a paid contract position (10–20 hours per week) intended for capable engineers who can independently design, prototype, test, and refine electronic systems with real-world deployment considerations. This position is impact-driven: contractors are expected to deliver tangible hardware contributions from the outset.
You will work on electronic subsystems including embedded controllers, sensor integrations, communication modules, and secure hardware interfaces within vehicle security architectures.
Compensation (Greater Toronto Area market-aligned):
CAD $50–$70 per hour, depending on experience, hardware complexity handled, and demonstrated execution capability.
Key Responsibilities

Design and develop electronic systems for automotive security and anti-theft applications.

Create schematics, select components, and support PCB layout processes.

Prototype, test, and validate hardware designs using industry-standard tools and equipment.

Support embedded system integration with firmware and software teams.

Conduct performance testing, debugging, and reliability validation.

Contribute to research and development initiatives exploring new electronic architectures and security-enhanced hardware solutions.

Support optimization and preparation of hardware systems for pilot or production deployment.

Maintain clear technical documentation, schematics, test results, and design revisions.

Participate in structured engineering meetings and technical planning sessions.

Uphold high standards of professionalism, confidentiality, and engineering integrity.
Required Qualifications

Completed Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related field.

1–3+ years of hands-on experience in electronics design (academic research, startup, lab, freelance, or industry experience acceptable).

Solid understanding of circuit design, analog and digital electronics.

Experience working with embedded systems and microcontrollers.

Familiarity with schematic capture and PCB design tools (e.g., Altium, KiCad, Eagle, or similar).

Experience with hardware prototyping, soldering, and lab testing equipment (oscilloscopes, multimeters, logic analyzers).

Strong problem-solving and debugging skills.

Ability to operate independently in a contractor capacity.
Preferred Qualifications

Master’s or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Embedded Systems, or related discipline.

Experience with automotive-grade electronics or vehicle integration.

Familiarity with wireless communication protocols (BLE, Wi-Fi, LoRa, CAN bus, etc.).

Experience designing secure hardware systems or tamper-resistant architectures.

Exposure to IoT device development.

Experience collaborating with firmware and software teams in cross-functional environments.

Interest or experience in automotive security, telematics, or physical security technologies.
