The United Nations Climate Change, or COP26, had 24 countries and top automotive manufacturers pledged to end the sale and the production of ICE vehicles by 2040 or earlier, some like Canada, Ireland, the Netherland, and the UK pledging to end it by 2030. Unfortunately for how nice all of this is there were some noticeable absences.

The US, China, and Germany have not signed the agreement, even Toyota declined to sign. They say that they will continue to work towards zero emissions, but I still recall the ads that they played talking about how they had projections for 2050, so it does beg the question if that objective has changed now.
